Mike, I'd use two separate receivers, one for the theater and one for the whole house music. You use Y-adapters on all your sources (DVD, VCR, Sat, etc.) to both receivers. Your whole house system would then need a speaker selector. For 4 areas look at this one. If you want or have volume control locations wired then these volume controls. For a good starting point for speakers look here. And theater apps here.
Name : Mike Townsend Message : I recently built a new home & had the builder pre-wire the house for in ceiling speakers. I`m curious what you would recommend. Here`s what I have. The living room is pre-wired for surround sound. The other rooms each have 2 speaker locations & they include A) Game room, where music needs to be played B) Master Bed room, where music needs to be played C) Family room, where music needs to be played D) Pool/deck, where music & sound from TV needs to be played I`ll need all the pieces & parts, except wiring.
